American GI Forum – National Veterans Outreach Program

The American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program, Inc. (NVOP) currently serves veterans with employment and training services in the four general metropolitan areas of Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, El Paso and San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, the housing services for the elderly are available in San Antonio at three different apartment complexes.

VETERANS SERVICE CENTER

The flagship of the organization is the Veterans Service Center (VSC) located in San Antonio where a continuum of care is available to veterans in need with several optional programs including the Veterans Integration Program and the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. Additional ancillary services are provided through NVOP’s Basic Skills Upgrade Learning Lab, clothing closet and food pantry. Assistance is provided as a single service or as a combination of services as dictated by each individual’s case management plan.

HOMELESS VETERANS

The American GI Forum Residential Center for Homeless Veterans has 80 transitional beds and 60 single room apartments.

DISABLED VETERANS

One option for the disabled veterans is employment through the organization’s sheltered workshop facility called Veterans Enterprises of Texas (VETS).

HOUSING FOR THE ELDERLY

Three apartment complexes providing 170 affordable apartments for the independent living of senior citizens. The Villa Alegre, Casa De Amistad and Casa De Esperanza are subsidized and provide affordable apartments for seniors on low, fixed incomes.
