Description:  Healthy Start is a program which provides FREE HEALTH INSURANCE for children (up to age 19) of low to moderate income families. This program is also available to pregnant women and parents/legal guardians who qualify.

  • Eligibility is determined by family size and income
  • Children enrolled in Healthy Start receive services through a Managed Care Plan (MCP)
  • Two MCPs are offered. Parents choose the best one for their family based on the selection of doctors, hospitals and locations offered by each MCP.
  • The MCP offers many health care services such as:
    • Well-child checkups
    • Immunizations
    • Dental Care and Treatment
    • Vision Care and Glasses
    • Hospitalization
    • Emergency Care
    • Prescription Medicine*
  • Pregnant women receive prenatal and postnatal services
