Holy Cross Hope House
Hope House provides access to showers, a place to do laundry, access mail, use a telephone, drinks/snacks and fellowship.
The following services are just some of what goes on at Hope House. All of the following are provided at zero cost:
- SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) – A representative comes on the last Wednesday of the month to assist our friends with applications, re-certification or solve any problems they may have in completing required information.
- Medicaid/Medicare – A representative comes monthly to help our friends with applications, apply for Part B and figure out any problems.
- CADA Outreach – Counsel on Alcohol and Drug Addiction come monthly on the 4th Thursday to do admissions, education and counseling.
- Nova’s Heart – Lorraine Guerrero is the founder of Nova’s Heart and has relocated to Hope House on a permanent basis. Operating hours are Wednesday-Friday 9am-2pm offering the services of immunizations, other medication, spay, neuter, food, collars, harnesses and leashes.
- Haircuts – Nikki Clawson comes monthly on the 3rd Monday and provides haircuts.
- Bike Loan – We have 4 bicycles that have been donated that we use to loan our friends when they have somewhere to go for an appointment.
- Life Skills Class – On the 2nd Thursday each month Life Skills Classes for our friends which teaches communication, critical thinking, relationship building, money management, daily tasks, time management, self-care and community. Leading the classes will be Tiffany Lewis, MSW and who is part of CADA Outreach.
- St. Luke’s Medical Van – The van is present twice monthly at Hope House, the 2nd Wednesday and the 3rd Sunday.
- Trash Terminators – Every Tuesday @ 9am (weather permitting) A group of our friends head through the streets of downtown Shreveport picking up trash. All safety vests, trash grabbers and trash bags are donated.
- BINGO – On the 2nd and 4th Friday we host BINGO from 1-2pm. All prizes are donated.
- Clothing Closet – On the 1st and 3rd Friday we have clothing closet for our friends. The clothes are donated by many people from the community. We are ALWAYS in need of something. See the Facebook page for regular updates on our needs.
- Birthday Celebration – Once monthly, on 3rd Wednesday, we acknowledge anyone who has a birth during that month with a party featuring cake and ice cream.
- Meals – We have approximately 12-14 meals provided monthly. When we get to the end of October through the end of the year we will have an increase in meals to 20 per month.
