Services: 
Provides the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP) program, a short-term rental assistance/housing supportive services program for households about to become homeless. Program will place families in housing with the goal of self-sufficiency within three months. Staff from MIFA and Salvation Army help with housing disputes, find appropriate rental properties, and prevent evictions and/or place households in rental housing with supportive case management (up to 12 months) after housing placement.

Eligibility: 
Homeless families with children, dependent or elderly adults, and single adults with referrals from the TN Dept of Children’s Services, the Board of Probation and Parole, and Second Chance may call for details. Must also be residents of Shelby County or City of Memphis for at least 30 days; meet income requirements, be currently employed, and/or able to contribute some funds to rental fees, subject to individual circumstances; have been in a shelter or transitional housing for fewer than 90 days previously; adults in family must show custodial relationship with child, if applying as a family, and agree to a service plan that will include at least two appointments/month with housing-based case manager. Couples, married or unmarried without children, may qualify for financial assistance, but must have ongoing case management from a partner agency.
