Room In The Inn- Memphis Chapter

Room in the Inn-Memphis is an ecumenical ministry that serves people experiencing homelessness. We are modeled after the incredibly successful Room in the Inn program that started in Nashville more than 30 years ago.

In Need of Shelter?

Room in the Inn is an Emergency Winter Shelter program for men and women operating from November 1 – March 31, seven nights a week. All shelter takes place at other locations throughout the city – transportation for guests is provided by volunteers to those locations. Space is limited and varies each evening depending on the number of host locations we have. Any families seeking shelter must call for availability and further instructions.

All guests register and check-in at Room In The Inn’s main location, 212 North Second Street, Memphis, TN 38105.

Our doors open at 4:00pm for new guests to register and receive orientation and at 4:30pm for guests with tickets for shelter that day.  Any new guests arriving after 4:30pm will be given instructions for the next day.

At 5:00pm we will know if there are extra spaces available for the night and will do a drawing for those spaces for any returning guests.

Anyone arriving after 5:00pm (even those who had a ticket for the night) will not be able to receive shelter with Room in the Inn that evening as all spaces are filled at 5:00pm.

All guests are returned to Room in the Inn by 7:00am the following morning, and the process begins again at 4:00pm the next day. There is no limit to the number of nights a guest may stay with Room in the Inn, and our shelter is always free. No other agency may guarantee a guest space with Room in the Inn. All guests go through a registration and orientation process with RITI staff on their first arrival.
