VOLUNTARY ALCOHOL & SUBSTANCE ABUSE REHABILITATION

The Salvation Army’s voluntary substance abuse program is the largest residential substance abuse rehabilitation program in the United States. The Salvation Army is recognized as a quality provider in treating alcohol and chemical addictions.
  • Last year, 60% of all clients successfully completed the substance abuse program.
  • 78% of the clients who successfully completed the residential program remained sober and living independently after 90 days of discharge.

Individuals receive housing, nourishing meals, medical care, and engage in work therapy. They have the benefits of group therapy, skilled counseling in clean and wholesome surroundings, and most importantly, spiritual guidance.

The program is available to all regardless of economic status, race, color or national origin.

Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers are funded completely by the community’s donations of furniture, clothing, household items and vehicles of all types, which are sold in Salvation Army thrift stores. Pickup service is provided and donations are tax deductible. The program receives no United Way or government funding.

COURT-ORDERED SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM

The Substance Abuse Program promotes healthy behaviors through residential and outpatient treatment services for adults on parole/probation for a drug-related offense ordered by a local criminal justice system and/or the Texas Department of Criminal Justice..

Probationers are assigned to the program by area courts; parolees are assigned by the Texas Department of Corrections.

Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors(L.C.D.C.) provide case management, individual and group counseling. Participants stay in the program for up to fifteen months, attending various group meetings, including Alcoholics Anonymous.

Addiction is a bio-psychosocial disorder, impossible to overcome without significant changes in a person’s life and environment. Therefore, we provide a treatment program that addresses all areas affecting the individual, including multiple drug addictions, involvement in the criminal justice system, lack of social support system, and mental health problems.

In Texas, where most crimes are drug related, the Substance Abuse Program is an effective safeguard against the vicious cycle of recidivism.

80% of clients discharged from the substance abuse program did not have any arrests after 90 days of discharge.
