Genesis Women’s Shelter and Support
Genesis shelter is at an undisclosed location. Women and their children are welcome to stay at the emergency shelter for up to six weeks. Each resident attends weekly individual and group therapy for the duration of their stay. Children in the shelter may attend the on-site alternative Simmons School. When a family has completed the 6 week stay they still may not be in a position to live independently. Annie’s House allows them to stay up to 12 months in a private apartment. Genesis offers counseling to non-residents who have experienced abuse but do not currently need shelter. Their services are free and available to women of all ages as well as children and teens, including boys up to age 17. For more information call the outreach center at (214)389-7700.
