The Salvation Army-Greater Houston Area Command

The Salvation Army assists Houston area residents with the following services:

•    Housing:  The Salvation Army offers financial assistance and case management to help clients avoid being homeless.    They also assist the chronically homeless, disabled, mentally ill, and clients with a substance issue to find housing in the community.  They also have 2 apartment complexes for seniors 62 and older.
• Homeless Services:  The Salvation Army offers shelter for men, women, and families in the Houston area.  They also operate the Young Adult Resource Center which specifically works with 18-25 year olds experiencing homelessness.
• Addiction Recovery:  The Salvation Army operates three recovery and rehabilitation centers for men and women.
• Veteran Services:  The Salvation Army often works with veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  They assist with navigating the VA system to access benefits.
• The Salvation Army also operates several thrift stores in the Houston area.  Please see the website for a list of locations.
• Holiday Assistance:  The Angel Tree program provides Christmas gifts to children up to 12 years of age, and seniors 62 and older. Families in need of assistance must call and schedule an appointment beginning Tuesday, September 4th at one of the following Salvation Army locations.–
