Goodwill Hawaii

Goodwill Hawaii is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charity that helps people with employment barriers to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient.

Since 1959, Goodwill has provided job placement, career development, education, training, employment and support services for people throughout the state. Thousands of Hawaii residents each year benefit from the services and have found employment in their community.

Employment Core Services

It can be difficult to support yourself and your family if you do not have the right training and employment resources. Employment Core Services can teach you skills to help you find a job. Services are free of charge to eligible low-income families.  See more details below.

Immigrant Services:

The Employment Core Services helps eligible immigrants to learn the skills necessary to find and keep a job.  Services include writing resumes, interview skills, vocational training, tuition assistance, English as a second language training, job referrals etc.

Youth Services:

Ola I Ka Hana program for youth, offers free education and job services to those meeting age requirements (Big Island: 24 or below, Oahu: 21 or below). The program is ideal for young people who have potential but have struggled in traditional school settings. Each person works with a Youth Specialist to develop educational and employment goals and to address other individual needs.

Intellectual Disability Services:

Ho’olana Program supports Medicaid Waiver eligible individuals with an intellectual disability. The day program provides a person centered approach while in a group setting. Participants can choose their own goals based on what they want to learn and how they want to succeed in life. They are encouraged to participate in volunteering, self-advocacy, and community integration.

Workforce Development Program:

Workforce Development programs provide training and employment services to eligible welfare recipients. While the unsteady economy, temporary emergencies and natural disasters are just a few of the reasons that may place an unforeseen barrier in your life, Workforce Development Programs can give you the guidance, resources and opportunities you need to get back on your feet and ensure that you are able to support yourself and your family.

To receive services, you must be currently receiving financial or food assistance from the Department of Human Services (DHS) and are referred by DHS. Services are provided based on referral by DHS to those who meet the eligibility criteria at no cost.
