GPUC provides the following programs for Grand Prairie residents when funding is available:

THANKSGIVING & CHRISTMAS BASKETS 

ON-SITE FOOD PANTRY – Food assistance is provided to their clients once every 30 days to Grand Prairie residents living in Tarrant and Dallas Counties. This includes non-perishable items as well as fresh fruits and vegetables, pastries, and breads. To access their pantry service, simply bring in a picture ID with a Grand Prairie address, fill out an application and food request sheet, and take home food that day!

UTILITY, RENT/SHELTER/MORTGAGE, PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION ASSISTANCE – If needed, financial assistance can be utilized by their clients once every 12 months, contingent on funding. To apply for financial assistance, please submit, in person, the required documentation (no substitutions please) AND the completed Financial Application (can be downloaded from website). Due to funding criteria, Section 8 is not eligible for Rent Assistance.

TO APPLY FOR SERVICES

  • Applicant MUST apply in person during our regular client intake hours. For your convenience, you may download the application from the website.
  • ALL required documentation must be presented at time of application. No partial applications will be accepted.
  • Rent/Shelter/Mortgage Assistance: Per funding requirements, all persons applying for this service MUST be current on rent/mortgage for the prior month. All fees and past due amounts owed MUST be paid before financial assistance can be granted. Section 8 is not eligible for rental assistance.
  • Submit, in person, completed application plus below listed required documentation to their office at 1417 Densman Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75051.
    1. Picture ID for all household members 18+
    2. Social Security Cards for ALL household members
    3. Proof of income for the past 60 days for all household members 18+. (No income, No worries. We have a non-employment affidavit for your use)
    4. Lease or Mortgage Statement
    5. Current bill(s) needing assistance
    6. If the following apply, please submit: Child Support Documentation, Food Stamp Award Letter, Housing Award Letter, Social Security/Disability Award Letter

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the number of caseloads, please allow 5-15 business days.
