Harris County Psychiatric Center
The Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC) offers inpatient and outpatient mental health services. They treat adults, children, and adolescents. HCPC’s inpatient program begins with assessing for various conditions, including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, and other mental health disorders requiring inpatient care. HCPC patients are served on units providing a therapeutic living environment. Their treatment team focuses on the stabilization of those in all levels of crisis, within a safe, secure, structured and small group milieu. The acute care average length of stay is seven to ten days. HCPC offers outpatient services that focus on helping those with treatment-resistant depression, including ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) as well as ketamine infusions offered through our approved clinical research trial. Additional Outpatient Services are available through McGovern Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Their faculty physicians provide a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults. Following an initial assessment, they develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient. HCPC is always available to individuals who need their inpatient hospitalization services. Our admissions office is open 24/7—that’s 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 713-741-3883 to learn more about the process for admission, referrals or insurance. Fees are dependent upon the services offered and a patient’s ability to pay. HCPC accepts those who are indigent, as well as those with insurance and self-pay, CHIP, Medicare, Managed Medicaid and Medicaid.
