Mental Health America of Greater Dallas
Peer-led support groups
We know the power of peer support and believe it must be integrated into all aspects of healthcare but also continue to expand on services and supports beyond “treatment as usual”.
Peer Support empowers individuals to make the best decisions for themselves and to strive toward their goals toward mental wellness.
Our groups offer a safe space for individuals living with mental health conditions to come and equip themselves with the tools they need to help them on their journey.
Peer groups should not be used as a replacement to treatment but used in connection with treatment.
Our hope is that our group members will see:
- Improvement to their quality of life
- Improvement to their whole health, including, chronic conditions
- Improvement with the engagement and satisfaction of services and supports
Our support groups have moved to Zoom
MHA of Greater Dallas hosts a number of peer-led support groups at our Dallas offices. As a temporary measure in response to the COVID-19, our support groups will not be meeting at our office until further notice, and will be held online through password-protected zoom meetings.
Changes to our participation rules for attending our Free Peer-Support Groups
There is no cost to attend a peer-support group, however, you must register by agreeing to our code of conduct to participate in our groups for the safety of all our members. After registration is completed, you will be added to our support group mailing list. Weekly emails will be sent with the passwords to registered members only.
