In Dallas - Food and Shelter, Dallas - Housing

  • Homeshare Program: This Dallas countywide program facilitates arrangements between individuals who have more housing than they need with people and/or families in need of housing.  These individuals seek a roommate who can contribute minimally to the finances and substantially to their life by offering companionship, assistance with house chores and a sense of security. We also attract young widows and divorcees who need a roommate primarily for financial assistance with mortgage payments and utilities. The person or families who seek housing come from all walks of life. They are students, second career seekers, recently divorced persons, low-income families, unemployed persons, homeless individuals/families, women with their children fleeing domestic violence situations, and single women fleeing abusive partners.
  • Group Residence:  The purpose of the group residence is to provide not only longer term residency to the homeless, but also a safety network of supportive services that provides opportunities to improve educational, social and economic status so that clients may regain independence, self-sufficiency and return to more traditional housing.  The program offers a commitment of up to 12 months to homeless single parents with children and older adults. Older adults or head of household of a single parent family must be 21 years or older to apply.  The children of the single parent family must not exceed the ages of 10 for boys and 12 for girls when accepted into the program.  Daycare services are offered.

**Applications for both programs can be found on the website.**
