Since 1982 the Family Center has been a source of hope for families dealing with anger and violence. Through trauma-focused counseling, group therapy, and education programs, we help restore victims to themselves and to the community, providing hope for a better future.

Family Anger Management Program Services

  • A family approach to anger management, using evidence-based curriculum

  • Clinical psychological assessment and treatment recommendations for adults with a history of intimate partner violence. Outreach and counseling are provided for family members who are victims and children who witnessed the intimate partner violence.

  • An eight-week course, designed to teach adult males acceptable expressions of anger and to eliminate violent and self-destructive behaviors. With the assistance of a certified facilitator, men will explore alternative behaviors and learn new coping techniques and skills that will positively impact their lives.

     

Parenting Support Program Services

  • One-time, four-hour seminar designed for divorcing parents to help them avoid common pitfalls and ensure a healthy environment for their children.

  • Family Mediation

    A process which allows family members to be active participants in making important decisions regarding custody and visitation issues. Mediation is an informal process that allows Disputing Parties to discuss options and create a parenting plan that will be in the best interest of the children.

  • Adult and teen parenting education classes, using an evidence-based curriculum designed to teach positive discipline and foster healthy relationships.

  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

    An intensive, evidence-based treatment model for parents and children ages two to seven with challenging behaviors.

  • Parents are provided with either
    (1) Supervised Parenting Time: a protected environment for children to interact with non-custodial parents; OR
    (2) Safe Exchange: safe, coordinated exchange from one parent to the other parent without contact or conflict.

     

Victims’ Services Program

  • Group Therapy

    Trauma-informed group therapy for women and children impacted by family violence. We also provide group therapy for men impacted by violence. Groups are offered in both English and Spanish.

  • Individual Counseling

    Counseling designed to strengthen and empower individuals in their journey to wholeness and wellness.

  • Play Therapy

    Child-centered play therapy for children as young as two years old who have witnessed or experienced trauma are given the tools to communicate their inner experiences using toys and play.
