The Mission of Yahweh
The Mission of Yahweh is a homeless shelter for women and children. The Mission of Yahweh is a faith-based, non-denominational emergency & transitional shelter located in Houston, Texas that empowers, enriches and restores the lives of homeless women and children. The Mission of Yahweh offers many life-changing programs focused on ending the cycle of homelessness and dependency. We offer educational programs such as life skills classes, parenting, money management, and computer training to develop job skills and resume preparation. We provide on-site essential case management services that assist in women dealing with the pains of their past, and learning hope, self-sufficiency, and independence for the future. Women receive a self improvement plan based on their needs. Weekly monitoring helps each resident to reach established goals. Case managers also intercede for residents with the courts, housing resources and other issues as needed. Our Responsible Resident Program teaches responsibility and accountability by requiring that all women give a minimum of 10 hours per week to help maintain The Mission. Residents help cook all of the meals, clean their room and bathrooms, common areas and help with accepting “in-kind” donations. Most importantly, as a non-denominational Christian shelter, The Mission of Yahweh strives to meet spiritual needs by offering chapel services Sunday and Thursday, and providing spiritual counseling for anyone in need. We believe that improving character and values are essential to creating lasting change in the lives of homeless women and their children.
