West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM)
West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM) offers the following services:
- Food pantry: This pantry is open Monday-Friday from 10am-2pm and Saturdays for working clients. This is only available for those in 77042, 77057, 77063, 77077, 77082, 77072, 77083.
- Financial assistance: WHAM can provide financial aid to help with partial payment towards the cost of rent, mortgage, or utilities–only available for those in 77042, 77057, 77063, 77077, and 77082. Persons seeking assistance must make an appointment. Please call us at 1-713-977-9942 weekdays at 10am to schedule your next day appointment.
- Holiday Meals: This program provides Thanksgiving or Christmas (clients choose either Thanksgiving or Christmas meal) meal ingredients and grocery gift cards to those in need. You must sign up between October 1st and October 31st.
- Holiday Toys: This program provides toys for clients’ children who are under age 10 and gift cards for older children, 10-18 years old, who are in school. Client parents are invited to “shop” for their young children from donated toys and receive $20 gift cards for their older children.
- Transportation and Job Related Assistance: Only as approved by WHAM staff and consistent with grant guidelines. WHAM may provide Metro passes, bicycles, and/or work clothing and uniform assistance. This assistance is available to all zip codes.
Documents required for all programs include photo ID for all adults in the household, non-photo ID for children, proof of income, and proof of residency. (For food, documentation is requested, but is not required).
