Houston Area Urban League
The Houston Area Urban League offers the following services:
- Services for parents and children include academic guidance and support for children from birth to age 18. This guidance includes assistance in areas such as literacy, math skills, and college/career readiness. They also offer training to assist parents with developing their child’s academic skills.
- Housing assistance includes classes for first time home buyers, foreclosure prevention/intervention, and one-on-one counseling regarding pre/post home purchase and mortgage default.
- Financial guidance includes assisting families with developing a budget and basic understanding of their finances. They also offer free credit analysis and guidance for improving a low credit score.
- Assistance with conducting a job search and preparing for an interview.
- Assistance with applying for health insurance.
