Northwest Louisiana Community Development Corporation

Our purpose is to provide assistance, educational training, and material with respect to the development, operation and maintenance of affordable, safe, sanitary, and decent housing in the State of Louisiana.

Programs

• Girls Who Code
  • Girls Who Code is a program created to offer education of the computer sciences to young ladies in grades 6 through 12. Girls are trained by instructors who volunteer their time to encourage young ladies to develop different skills as it relates from mobile development to video game design.
• Road to Homeownership
  • The Road to Homeownership (formerly known as the Building Blocks to Your Future Home), is a quarterly seminar focused on helping the community learn about different topics such as: understanding your credit, predatory lending, obtaining a mortgage loan and protecting your credit.
• Life Summer Camps
  • The L.I.F.E. Summer Camp is a summer program held to enrich the lives and minds of children aged 5-13.
  • L.I.F.E. stands for Lifting Individuals and Families through Education.
  • The children learn different activities to further enhance their skills in reading, math, science, social studies and the arts.
• Summer Feeding Program
  • NWLA CDC will provide free breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday during the two summer months.
• Housing on Hutchinson
  • Currently we own all of the properties on Hutchinson Street with the exception of three homes.
  • These properties are rented out monthly which provides income to the NWLA CDC, which in turn, helps fund our many projects.
• Transitional Housing for Boys
  • Why is the Transitional Housing for boys important for the city of Shreveport?
    • With many of our children not having a place to go, this increases the rate of violence, health issues, and educational issues when it comes to receiving a proper education.
